Derbyshire are hosting a special ICC Women’s World Cup legacy event, with guest speaker Sally Gunnell OBE, on Thursday 27 April to launch an exciting summer of women’s sport in Derby.
Join 1870 Business Club partners for this unique event and a discussion on how the county can use the global sports tournament to help women and girls in Derbyshire to be their best
Building on Sport England’s award winning This Girl Can campaign, guests will be treated to afternoon tea, prosecco and a panel discussion featuring inspirational women from across the city with a motivational talk from one of the country’s most successful ever sportswomen.
Gunnell is the only woman to hold four titles concurrently – Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth. She also held the World Record for the 400m hurdles and is now a world renowned motivational and business speaker.
Commercial Director, Ryan Duckett said: “With the ICC Women’s World Cup coming to Derby, we have an exciting summer of women’s sport to look forward to in 2017.
“We want to use the event to create a lasting legacy for women and girls in Derbyshire, both on and off the field.
“We’re delighted to secure Sally, one of the country’s most successful sportswomen ever, for this unique event, which will feature inspirational business and sports women from across the county. It will be a terrific event and the perfect way to kick off a special summer ahead for Derbyshire.”
