Six members of the Club’s Supervisory Board were formally elected at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 29 March, all standing unopposed.
The following Members have been elected to serve on the Supervisory Board, for a term of two years, in the specific roles for which they meet the qualifying criteria;
Commercial Director and Chairman: Ian Morgan, OBE
Ian, who was awarded an OBE in 2015 for services to the bus industry and business in the East Midlands, was part of a four-man team that led the management/employee buyout of Trent Buses by Wellglade Group in 1986. As Commercial Director of the business, he had overall responsibility for all commercial, marketing, sales and external affairs activities. In 1989, Wellglade Group acquired Barton Buses and subsequently five other businesses to become the UK’s largest independent bus group and market leader in customer service.
In 2009, he accepted a part-time, non-executive role as Deputy Chairman of Wellglade Group, to pursue other activities and interests. He is also a Board member and Business Representative of D2N2, the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). He has served as President and Board member of the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce and continues to play an active role. He is also a member of the University of Derby Invest to Grow panel which awards grants and loans to private sector businesses creating jobs.
Finance Director: Hari Punchihewa, MBA FCMA ACIB C.Dir
Hari is the Deputy Chief Executive of the University of Derby and is responsible for all resources/core functions managed by a team of six Directors. His key strategic responsibilities are to ensure the financial stability and sustainability of the University, efficient use of all resources and to direct necessary investments. His portfolio also includes responsibility for overall Sports development at the University through the Team Derby brand.
Prior to joining the University, he worked for the Daimler Benz Group as Finance Director/Company Secretary and responsible for the Car and Truck Fleet Financing and Management subsidiaries. Prior to that, Hari worked in Merchant Banking and Financial services.
Operations & Facilities Director: Ian McFarlane
Ian is a retired Board member at Briggs of Burton PLC, a Process Engineering and Construction Company based in Burton. His responsibilities included commercial relationships, bid management, engineering project and engineering construction management, risk management and resource management. He has an understanding of the requirements of construction and design, and health and safety legislation.
Legal Services Director: Kirpal Bidmead, LLB (Hons)
Kirpal has over 20 years of experience as a solicitor and has been the Head of the Family Law Team at Flint Bishop LLP since 2012, based in the Derby office.
She specialises in protecting the interests of high net worth clients and was listed as a Notable Practitioner in the 2017 edition of Chambers and Partners.
Cricket Advisory Director: Mike Hendrick
Mike is a former Derbyshire fast bowler and, as a capped player, is also an Honorary Life Member of the Club. Mike played for Derbyshire from 1969 to 1981, before finishing his career at Nottinghamshire from 1982 to 1984.
Mike played in 30 Test matches and 22 ODIs for England from 1973 to 1981. Mike is still coaching on a freelance basis.
Administration Director: Jason Fage
Jason has served pharmaceutical company Ceuta – who offer a full range of services for independent and regional pharmacy multiples – in a managerial role for the last 20 years.
He has been directly responsible for managing team budgets, ensuring the achievement of all sales targets while working closely and reporting to the National Sales Manager. Jason attends regular meetings at senior management level with other departments within Ceuta Healthcare.
