Director of Cricket, Kim Barnett, says with the capture of Matt Henry, the Falcons can boast a world-class bowling line-up in the NatWest T20 Blast this summer.

Matt Henry has joined Derbyshire for the NatWest T20 Blast and will be available for the whole of the campaign, alongside the world’s number one limited overs bowler, Imran Tahir, and South Africa fast bowler, Hardus Viljoen.

The 25-year-old, who has featured in six Twenty20 and 30 one-day internationals for the Black Caps, has appeared in 59 Twenty20 fixtures in total, claiming 52 wickets at an average of 29.

The paceman, who has previous experience in county cricket with Worcestershire in 2016, has also been a regular in New Zealand’s ODI side since making his debut in 2014, claiming 58 wickets at an average of 25 with best figures of 5-30.

Barnett said: “John Wright’s plan is to bowl well and keep scores down, and Matt will give us another element to our attack. With Matt, Hardus Viljoen, Imran Tahir, and you add to that our current decent bowlers, we hope to be able to keep sides to low totals this summer.”
