It’s less than a month until Derbyshire begin their 2017 season by welcoming Northamptonshire to The 3aaa County Ground and the squad have been preparing in the Briggs of Burton Pre-Season Marquee.

The outdoor training facility has been introduced under the new coaching model at Derbyshire, allowing the players to train in conditions similar to those they will play in during the early part of the season.

Captain, Billy Godleman said: “It’s nice to get back outside on turf in nice and juicy seam conditions for the bowlers. Our focus is about using the next month until the first game we have against Loughborough University as wisely and smart as possible.”

Fast bowler, Tom Milnes added: “It’s been good to get proper grass under your feet instead of the hard surface indoors.

“It makes it more realistic to prepare outdoors and get some grass under your feet. Batters can play on proper wickets instead of indoors and we can also bowl on proper wickets.”
