Billy Godleman, Luis Reece and Wayne Madsen all hit half-centuries as Derbyshire drew their three-day friendly versus Loughborough MCCU.

In reply to the hosts’ 388 all out, Derbyshire reached 255-2 in their second innings, with Madsen top scoring with an unbeaten 80, before the team teams shook hands on a draw.

Reece (3-22), who claimed 2-18 on Day Two, claimed the final wicket of the Loughborough innings within the first hour of Day Three, bowling Sam Cook for 20 to dismiss the hosts for 388, a first-innings lead of 25 runs.

The rest of the final day then belonged to the Derbyshire batsmen who gained valuable time in the middle ahead of the Specsavers County Championship opener versus Northamptonshire at The 3aaa County Ground, starting on Friday.

Captain Godleman hit his second half century of the match as part of a 133-run opening stand with Reece, before retiring unbeaten on 65, to go with his 76 from the first innings.

Reece went on to complete his maiden half-century for the Club, off 116 balls with six fours, but he was first man out for 58.  New man Thakor hit a brisk 10 off four balls, as Derbyshire moved to 188-2 shortly after tea.

Madsen and new man Daryn Smit saw out the remainder of the day. Madsen accumulated quickly to lead the scoring with 80 not out off just 71 balls, which included 12 fours and one six, while Smit was unbeaten on 18 at the close.
