Paceman Hardus Viljoen says he can’t wait to get going ahead of Friday’s opening home Specsavers County Championship clash against Northamptonshire.
Having previously played county cricket at Kent and following a successful winter in South Africa, strike-bowler Viljoen is heading into the new season ready to make an impact at Derbyshire.
He said: “I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be a good challenge and I’ve been looking forward to it the whole winter.
“It’s nice to have the responsibility as a senior bowler to come in and lead the attack. It’s always an honour and a privilege to be able to do so.
“I’m looking forward to fulfilling that role and hopefully at the end of the season we can reflect back on a great summer.”
