Shiv Thakor has earned an automatic invitation to next year’s North-South Series after finishing as the highest PCA MVP points scorer in the North Group, after the group stages.

The all-rounder hit 280 runs at an average of 40, including a career-best 130, and was the county’s leading wicket taker with 13 at an average of 24.

His consistent performances earned him 110 points in the Professional Cricketers’ Association’s MVP Rankings for the competition – currently placing him second overall in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

As one of four of the highest-placed England-qualified player from the North Group, Thakor will be invited to join the North squad who will aim to make amends for the 3-0 whitewash inflicted by the South in the inaugural series in the UAE earlier this year.

Durham Captain Keaton Jennings, Warwickshire’s Sam Hain and Yorkshire Captain Gary Balance are the other three players from the North Group to receive an automatic invite for the series.

The North-South series is an opportunity for players to make an impression and push for a place in England’s ODI squad for the summer ahead.
