Shiv Thakor has been named the Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month for April after hitting 231 runs at an average of 46.2 and taking six wickets.
Thakor’s standout performance came against Northants Steelbacks in the Royal London One-Day Cup as he struck a match-winning maiden List A century – hitting a career-best 130. He also took 3-39 in first innings as part of a man of the match performance.
His display against Northants was the best by a Derbyshire player in 50-over cricket according to the Professional Cricketers’ Association MVP Rankings.
Thakor had 41% of the vote, while Billy Godleman was second 23% and Will Davis was third with 22%.
The 23-year old is also relishing batting higher up the order and is looking to make an impact across all formats for Derbyshire this season.
Thakor said: “I’ve batted at number three growing up and there was an opportunity to do that. It’s great to bat that high because you have a chance to impact games and contribute winning performances.
“I want to test myself at number three and if I have aspirations in the game I’ve got to do it up there and make significant runs because that’s where you can help the team.
“It was something I really wanted to do and I was very lucky that the club decided to support me.”
