VIDEO: Slater previews Lancashire fixture

Thursday 11th May 2017

Ben Slater says the side have batted well over the four Royal London One-Day Cup games and that there is no reason why they can’t come away with a good result at Lancashire tomorrow.

Slater hit 82 in the Falcons’ four-wicket win over Warwickshire on Wednesday, which included nine fours and one six. He currently averages 56.75 in the Royal London One-Day this summer.

The 25-year-old said: “It was nice to get the win, it was a good all-round performance coming off the back of three games where we got 300 plus we knew we could chase that down at halfway and it was set up nicely by the bowlers.

“It was nice to get a few runs I probably should have kicked on and seen it home but it was nice to get eighty odd. It was a great day and chase by everyone really. Everybody chipped in.

He added: “We have batted well over the four games, 300 three times and a 290 yesterday and we are batting well so there’s no reason why we can’t go up there and come away with a good result.

“Another win tomorrow then take back to back wins going into Leicester on Sunday there’s no reason why if we string a couple of wins together we can’t be up there by the end of it.”
