Supporters can now vote for the Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month for the month of April.

Each month this season, supporters can cast their vote for their Player of the Month by visiting the Club’s official Twitter account.

We’ve selected four nominees; opening batsman Billy Godleman, wicketkeeper-batsman Gary Wilson, all-rounder Shiv Thakor and  paceman Will Davis.

All four enjoyed a successful start to the season, now supporters can vote for their Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month. Due to the date of the first vote, we will be including the Royal London One-Day Cup fixture versus Notts Outlaws on Tuesday 2 May.

Player of the Month: April Nominees

Billy Godleman

The Club Captain has enjoyed a good start to the 2017 season, opening the batting and leading from the front in scoring 193 first-class and 185 List A runs in six innings across the two competitions.

Godleman hit an unbeaten 156 in the second innings versus Northamptonshire in the Specsavers County Championship as he and Luis Reece set a Club record opening partnership of 333.

He has been a major contributor in Derbyshire eclipsing 300 runs in each of their last two Royal London One-Day Cup matches, hitting 95 versus Northants Steelbacks and 90 against Notts Outlaws at an average of 92.5.

Gary Wilson

The Derbyshire Vice Captain has added valuable runs in both formats so far this season, and taken nine catches behind the stumps in his first month with the Club.

The Irishman has scored 169 first-class runs in two matches, including a counter-attacking 97 in the second innings at Canterbury and an excellent 72 versus Northamptonshire, helping to reach 281 after Derbyshire had fallen to 114-4.

Wilson has finished unbeaten in both Royal London One-Day Cup matches this season in which Derbyshire have batted, including 23 from 14 balls against Notts Outlaws.

Shiv Thakor

The all-rounder has had an April to remember, most memorably hitting 130 in a successful run chase against Northants Steelbacks, his maiden List A century. He currently averages 73.50 in the one-day competition.

He has also claimed four List A wickets, currently the leading wicket taker for the Club, at an average of 30, with best figures of 3-39.

After the two opening two red ball games, Thakor is averaging just under 30 in his new role at number three in the line-up, with a top score of 44.

Will Davis

The 21-year-old has had a fantastic start to the season, taking 13 wickets in the opening two Specsavers County Championship matches against Northamptonshire and Kent.

A graduate of the Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby, Davis is averaging 16.9 in the competition and has taken a wicket every five overs.

Davis’ highlight of the season so far was his 4-60 in the first innings versus Northamptonshire at The 3aaa County Ground, the opening bowler taking six wickets in the match.
