Matt Critchley hit 87 not out and Akhil Patel an unbeaten 63 to put Derbyshire Seconds in a good position on a rain hit second day of their Second XI Championship match against MCC Young Cricketers.
MCC Young Cricketers resumed Day Two on 305-8 but two quick wickets from Alex Wyatt saw Ben Brookes (71) and Liam Hurt (4) both out lbw, as the visitors were all out for 355.
The Derbyshire reply stuttered in the fourth over as Oli Smithson (1-60) removed Charlie Macdonell lbw for five shortly before the lunch interval.
Michael Jones and Callum Brodrick both hit 35 in a 70-run partnership before Brodrick was caught by Luke Jones off the bowling of Liam Hurt (3-61).
Hurt took his second and third wicket in quick succession as Jones was caught on 35 and Harvey Hosein was caught on 14.
Critchley and Patel rebuilt nicely, sharing an unbeaten 155-run partnership, including 17 fours and one six to the close. Derbyshire resume Day Three at Glossop CC on 266-4, with Critchley unbeaten on 87 and Patel on 63.
