Jeevan Mendis has been named the Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month for May after taking 20 wickets across the Royal London One-Day Cup and Specsavers County Championship.
Mendis has led the spin attack, taking a total of 20 wickets and scoring vital runs in the eight games in May. This included a standout performance against Warwickshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup, where he hit a quick-fire 44 off 23 balls to see Derbyshire to victory.
With many variations to his leg spin, Mendis picked up eight wickets in the Specsavers County Championship fixture against Leicestershire, a vital performance in securing a draw.
The Sri-Lankan, who received 46% of the vote, is the joint fifth leading wicket taker in the Specsavers County Championship Division Two and is averaging 28.33 in the competition so far this season.
