Milnes takes four on even Day One for Seconds

Four wickets for Tom Milnes helped the Derbyshire Seconds bowl Worcestershire out for 223 on Day One of their Second XI Championship match at Stourbridge CC.

The visitors won the toss and elected to field first, dismissing Worcestershire for 223 shortly after tea, before closing on 57-3 in reply.

Ben Cotton (2-36) made the breakthrough, dismissing Ollie Westbury for 30, the opener caught by Charlie Macdonell. Two quick wickets soon fell as Derbyshire took control. Milnes (4-38) removed George Rhodes for 38, caught behind by Hosein, and Alexei Kervezee (0) caught by Brodrick.

Cotton took the second of his wickets three overs later as he had the Worcestershire Captain Alex Hepburn caught behind by Hosein for four.

Tom Fell and Zen Malik put on a 69-run partnership before Fell was caught by Hemmings off the bowling of Matt Critchley (3-48) for 51.

Milnes then made it four wickets in an impressive spell, Malik out for 18 and Ben Twohig caught for seven by Cotton.

Alfie Gleadall (1-30) had Joe Dodd caught without scoring by Wood and Critchley wrapped the innings up as he bowled Patrick Brown for four, Worcestershire all out for 223.

Worcestershire’s Brown (1-11) had Ben Slater caught for nine early on in the innings before Twohig (2-0) took two quickfire wickets, dismissing Charlie Macdonell for six and Alfie Gleadall without scoring.

Michael Jones hit an unbeaten 32 with Tom Wood was unbeaten but yet to score as they resume on Day Two.
