Rain forced a draw on the final day of the Second XI Championship match between Derbyshire and MCC Young Cricketers at Glossop CC, with the hosts taking 11 points to the visitors’ nine.

Heavy overnight rain which continued to dampen the outfield in the morning meant that Derbyshire were unable to continue their innings, with the hosts on 266-4.

Matt Critchley and Akhil Patel were not out overnight on 87 and 63 respectively, after sharing an unbeaten 155-run partnership after Derbyshire had earlier slipped to 111-4.

The Derbyshire reply followed a good display from the bowling unit, as Gurjit Singh took 4-81 and Alex Wyatt 3-84 in dismissing MCC Young Cricketers for 335.

Derbyshire take 11 points and MCC Young Cricketers nine ahead of their Second XI Twenty20 fixture at the same ground tomorrow; 11:30am start.
