Written by Danny Painter

Harvey Hosein hit an unbeaten 115 as Derbyshire declared on 305-5 and the visitors closed 84-1 on Day Two of their Second XI Championship clash with Durham at Belper Meadows CC.

The young wicketkeeper-batsman piled on the runs in stands with Captain Tom Milnes (89) and Callum Brodrick, who hit a well-made 73.

Charlie Macdonell was out without scoring, caught by Bradley Yates off England international Graham Onions. Patel (11) soon followed and with Derbyshire 33-2, Durham took control of the rain-affected match.

The hosts, with Hosein and Brodrick at the crease, began to score quickly and regain control as they powered to 125 before Brodrick was eventually out to Usman Arshad for 73.

Singh (6) was run out by Jack Burnham but Hosein continued to bat nicely and went on to add 170 with Milnes, with the all-rounder’s wicket bringing the declaration with the score 305-5.

Durham closed 84-1 after Milnes (1-14) picked up the wicket of Cameron Steel early on, bowled for 13.

Burham will resume the final day on 40 not out, whilst Gareth Harte is unbeaten on 23.
