India beat Sri Lanka by 16 runs in Derby on Wednesday 5 July to register their fourth straight win at the ICC Women’s World Cup.
India won the toss and elected to bat and Deepti Sharma hit a well-made 78 including 10 fours, before Captain Mithali Raj reached her half-century from 78 balls.
Sripali Weerakkody claimed the best figures of the day with 3-28 from her nine overs, as India posted 232 from their 50 overs.
Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Dilani Manodara top-scored for her side with 61 but tight bowling from India restricted Sri Lanka to 216 at the close short falling by just 17 runs.
ICC Women’s World Cup action is next in Derby when Sri Lanka return to take on the West Indies on Sunday 9 July.
Derby will also be hosting the semi-final of the ICC Women’s World Cup.
