Derbyshire trialist James Kettleborough hit a well-made and dominant 180 on the second day of the three-day Second XI friendly against Yorkshire at Harrogate CC.

Yorkshire declared on 390-6 giving Derbyshire almost a full day to bat after Will Davis (3-75) claimed his third wicket, Liam Plunkett, caught on 58. Kettleborough led from the front and recorded his 11th century of the season as Derbyshire closed on 336-6.

Charlie Macdonell and Kettleborough opened the batting but an early breakthrough from Ben Coad (2-39) saw Macdonell caught by Rhodes for five.

Callum Brodrick and Kettleborough put on 113 for the second wicket before Brodrick was caught by Leaning on 43 off the bowling of Ryan Sidebottom (2-23). Sidebottom’s second wicket of the day came quickly after, this time Tom Wood lbw without scoring and Leaning (1-18) had Priestley caught by Bresnan for a quick 23.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Joss Morgan added 31 before he was lbw to Azeem Rafiq for 31, but Kettleborough continued to bat soundly and added 67 for the sixth wicket with Greg Cork (25 not out), until the opener was caught off the penultimate ball of the day to end a fine innings as Derbyshire finished the day on 336-6.
