Derbyshire Falcons face Durham Jets at The 3aaa County Ground on Tuesday – we take a look at one to watch, Tom Latham.

Derbyshire will be aiming to claim their seventh win in the competition against the North Group’s bottom side in front of the Sky Sports Cricket cameras on Tuesday in Derby; 6.30pm start. The Jets have struggled in the competition so far, amassing just three wins from their 12 matches. But new signing Latham adds strength to the top order alongside the returning Keaton Jennings.

The New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman has made three appearances for the Jets so far in the NatWest T20 Blast and has a top-score of 62 off 40 balls against Worcestershire Rapids.

Drafted in for the latter part of the NatWest T20 Blast campaign, the 25-year-old has scored over 1,000 Twenty20 runs for Canterbury, but this is his first spell in the English domestic competition.

He will be a prized early wicket for the Falcons who are well-rested and prepared for a busy week of NatWest T20 Blast action under Daryn Smit, with Captain Gary Wilson away with Ireland.

Smit said: “At this stage of the season preparation is important, but rest is just as important. The guys have had three or four days off and have been able to get away from it, not just physically but also mentally. We come back fresh and ready to go.

“It will be great to have Critchley come back in, he’s offered great impetus for us at the top of the innings and offers that extra role as a leg spinner.

“Both Matt Henry and Imran Tahir bowled yesterday and seemed well rested. We’ll be looking to them to lead the attack alongside Hardus [Viljoen].”

He added: “The crowd has been great so far and it’s no coincidence that we’ve played some of our best cricket at home. We have two big games here this week so hopefully the crowd will create a great atmosphere for us.”
