Opposition

West Indies have plenty of options with both bat and ball which they can call upon in the day/night fixture as they continue to prepare for their Test series in England.

Young pace bowler Alzarri Joseph is one of the best young prospects in world cricket after he broke into the West Indies Test team in 2016, aged just 19.

Barbados-born Captain Jason Holder is currently ranked tenth in the ICC Test Rankings for all-rounders. Shannon Gabriel is the West Indies’ main threat with the ball after climbing his way up the 19th in the ICC Test bowler rankings.

Roston Chase threatens with the bat and is in-form for the West Indies in cricket right now, having made centuries in his last two Test matches.

Fast bowler Kemar Roach recently shone in the West Indians game against Essex claiming figures of 5-43 and is definitely one to watch.

West Indies Squad: Yet to be announced.

Pre-Match Talk

Director of Cricket, Kim Barnett says that facing off against the West Indies will be an excellent opportunity for the young side to gain experience playing at a high level.

Barnett said: “With the exception of Callum Brodrick everyone in the Twenty20 squad has been kept out of this game to give the younger players an opportunity.

“It gives them an opportunity to make their debut and to see what the first-class standard is like at this level and make the most of the experience they are getting.”

He added: “In terms of Will Davis he is back, training well and due to play for the Seconds soon, continuing his rehabilitation back to the first team.”
