VIDEO: Viljoen eyeing double over Vikings

Thursday 3rd August 2017
Written by Danny Painter

Falcons’ joint leading wicket-taker Hardus Viljoen is aiming to complete the double over Yorkshire Vikings when the two sides meet in the NatWest T20 Blast at Headingley on Thursday 3 August; 6.30pm start.

Derbyshire have 11 points in the NatWest T20 Blast North Group and will be looking to claim their sixth win in the competition. Fast bowler Viljoen is aware of the talent in the Yorkshire squad, but is focused on his side’s game plans heading into the important clash.

He said: “The names in their team speak for themselves, but nonetheless we have made a few upsets so far this season and it just shows you what we can do as a team when we play to the best of our ability. We can beat any team on paper at any stage of the season.”

The 28-year-old added: “It would definitely be great to do the double over them and it would leave us in a good place on the log as well.

“But we just take it game by game and ball by ball, without looking too far ahead and just stick to our processes. If we do that well then we might come out on top.”

On the back of the trip to Headingley on Thursday comes the visit of Notts Outlaws to The 3aaa County Ground on Friday; 7pm start. Derbyshire will be looking for revenge and tickets are still available.

Supporters can save £4 by purchasing their matchday tickets in advance of the day of the game, while further discounts are available for group bookings of 10+.

Derby County’s opening Sky Bet Championship fixture versus Sunderland will be shown live on screens in the 3aaa Pavilion during the match. The bar will be open.
