Vote now for your July Player of the Month

Supporters can now vote for the Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month for July.

Each month this season, supporters can cast their vote for their Player of the Month by visiting the Club’s official Twitter account.

We’ve selected four nominees; Wayne Madsen, Luis Reece, Imran Tahir and Matt Critchley.

All four enjoyed a successful July, now supporters can vote for their Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month. 

Player of the Month: July Nominees

Wayne Madsen

Madsen is currently sitting at the top of PCA MVP Rankings for the NatWest T20 Blast and is 14 points clear having scored 355 runs and taken eight wickets up to now in the tournament.

The top-order batsman hit an unbeaten 86 from just 44 balls against Notts Outlaws and has made five scores of 40 or more. Most recently Madsen hit 49 not out in the Falcons’ victory over Leicestershire Foxes and is averaging 71 with the bat.

He is isn’t just shining with the bat but also the ball and the handy off-spinner has an economy of 7.07, the second most economical bowler for Derbyshire.

Luis Reece

Reece has shone with the bat on a number of occasions in the NatWest T20 Blast and is currently ranked 14th in the overall NatWest T20 Blast PCA MVP Rankings.

He has put in match-winning performances with the bat twice in July, hitting 75 not out against Northants Steelbacks and an unbeaten 97 from 55 balls to beat former county Lancashire.

The left-hander has scored 288 runs so far and the top-order batsman is averaging 48 with a strike rate of 139.

Imran Tahir

Derbyshire’s front-line spinner Tahir has certainly impressed with both wickets and his celebrations since arriving at the Club.

The leg-spinner has taken ten wickets in the NatWest T20 Blast campaign at an average of 25 with best figures of 3-18 in the win over Yorkshire Vikings at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.

Tahir also took seven wickets in the Specsavers County Championship defeat against Durham at Queen’s Park, on debut in early July.

Matt Critchley

During the Specsavers County Championship fixture versus Durham Matt Critchley recorded his second first-class century for Derbyshire hitting a well-made 102 from 148 balls.

Critchley has also been opening the batting in the NatWest T20 Blast, scoring 131 runs with a high score of 40 off 24 against Lancashire Lightning.

The 20-year-old has only bowled a few spells but recorded best figures of 2-16 versus Lancashire.
