Fast bowler James Taylor has signed a two-year professional deal with Derbyshire, keeping him at the Club until the end of 2019.

The Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby graduate made his first-class debut in the Bell & Co Tour Match against West Indies in August and claimed the wicket of Test opener Kraigg Brathwaite.

The 16-year-old has also impressed with the Academy and Second XI this summer, earning him his first professional deal.

Development Coach, Mal Loye said: “James is another product of the Cricket Derbyshire pathway. When given the opportunity at senior level, he has performed well and shown that he has great potential.

“He will now benefit greatly by being part of the first team squad this winter and he has a great opportunity now to develop and learn.”
