No play possible on wet Day One in Derby

Tuesday 5th September 2017
Written by Danny Painter

Heavy overnight rain which continued into the morning forced the abandonment of Day One between Derbyshire and Glamorgan at The 3aaa County Ground without a ball bowled.

Derbyshire will have to wait until Day Two to begin their final match in Derby this season after the first day of the Specsavers County Championship fixture was called off after a second inspection by the umpires, shortly before 2pm.

Gary Wilson returned to the Derbyshire squad after illness and there was also a place in the 15 for Hamidullah Qadri, who led the way with the ball in the reverse fixture, picking up up 5-60 in the final innings to secure a 39-run victory for Derbyshire at just 16 years of age.

Derbyshire will be aiming to complete the double over their Welsh counterparts with play due to get underway at 10.30am on Wednesday, with tickets available on the gate at The 3aaa County Ground.
