Rain forces Second Day abandonment

Wednesday 6th September 2017
Written by Danny Painter

Derbyshire and Glamorgan were forced to endure another abandoned day’s play without a ball bowled as heavy rain and a wet outfield resulted in no play on Day Two at The 3aaa County Ground.

The Specsavers County Championship fixture was abandoned for the second day running following further bad weather in Derby. A dry start gave way to a rain shower shortly after 9am, leading to a delayed start and a pitch inspection at 11am.

After consultation with the ground staff, both umpires deemed large parts of the outfield were unsuitable for play. The two teams will try again tomorrow at 10.30am, with 104 overs scheduled in the day.
