Seconds perform well against Yorkshire

Derbyshire Second XI put in a good all-round performance in the rain-affected draw against a strong Yorkshire side in a three-day friendly at Harrogate.

James Kettleborough hit 180 in Derbyshire’s only innings, whilst Will Davis took four wickets and Tom Taylor claimed three in the match.

Heading into the final day in a strong position, Derbyshire were eventually all out for 360 as Greg Cork hit 28 before he was caught behind off the bowling of England international Liam Plunkett (2-63).

Plunkett also took the wicket of Taylor, whilst Captain Tim Bresnan removed Davis and Ben Cotton, wrapping up the Derbyshire innings in the morning session.

Rain had been threatening for the majority of the day but Derbyshire got off to a good start with the ball in  Yorkshire’s second innings as Davis (1-23) had the early breakthrough with Tom Kohler-Cadmore caught behind for three.

Shortly after, Taylor (1-18) had George Rhodes caught behind by wicketkeeper Joss Morgan for five, before Jack Leaning (38 not out) and Bresnan (30 not out) put on 73 until a deluge of rain forced the abandonment of the game.
