Supporters can now vote for the Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month for August.

Each month this season, supporters can cast their vote for their Player of the Month, with voting taking place on the Club’s official Twitter account; @DerbyshireCCC.

For the month of August, we have selected four nominees; Wayne Madsen, Luis Reece, Imran Tahir and Hardus Viljoen.

This month included six NatWest T20 Blast fixtures, as Derbyshire reached the quarter-finals for the first time in 12 years, and two Specsavers County Championship matches.

Player of the Month: August Nominees

Wayne Madsen

Wayne Madsen is currently sitting at the top of the PCA MVP Rankings for the NatWest T20 Blast and is 25 points clear having scored 526 runs and taken 13 wickets in the tournament.

He ended the competition as Derbyshire leading run scorer, with an average of 48 and a strike-rate of 145. His four half-centuries in the campaign was also a record for joint most ever by a Derbyshire player.

And he didn’t just shine with the bat as his handy off-spin returned an economy of just 7.36, the most economical bowler for the Falcons, and his 13 wickets came at an average of 26.

Luis Reece

Luis Reece was the county’s second highest run scorer in the NatWest T20 Blast, hitting 433 runs at an average of 36, with a top score of 97 not out versus Lancashire – a career-best for the 27-year-old.

The top order batsman hit the most sixes for the Falcons in the Twenty20 competition with 14, and faced the second most balls.

The left hander ended the month in fine fashion by scoring his second first-class century of the season, hitting 106 versus Durham at Emirates Riverside. Reece has in total scored 546 runs in Specsavers County Championship this year at an average of 34.

Imran Tahir

Derbyshire’s frontline spinner Imran Tahir has certainly impressed with both wickets and his celebrations since arriving at the Club.

The leg-spinner finished as the Club’s leading NatWest T20 Blast wicket taker with 17 wickets and best figures of 4-17 versus Worcestershire in the final group game at The 3aaa County Ground.

Hardus Viljoen

Fast bowler Hardus Viljoen claimed his first five-wicket haul for Derbyshire in August, in the defeat to Durham at Emirates Riverside. The tall quick took 5-130 in the first innings.

The 28-year-old finished the NatWest T20 Blast as the county’s third highest wicket taker, with 14 wickets and best figures of 3-28.

In the side’s last group game against Worcestershire, Viljoen returned figures of 2-20 from his four overs to help Derbyshire book their place in the quarter-finals.
