Cricket Derbyshire supported Pilgrimage of Light and Prayer Freedom Week as a candle to commemorate the fight against modern slavery arrived at The 3aaa County Ground.

The community initiative, created by the Bishop of Derby, Alastair Refdern, aims to raise awareness and commemorate modern slavery survivors as well as those who work to tackle the growing problem.

The week of awareness began on 15 October and includes the journey of two candles around the county. The candles left Derby Cathedral on the morning of Thursday 19 October before arriving at The 3aaa County Ground where they stayed until midday before continuing their journey.

Chief Executive Simon Storey said: “The 3aaa County Ground is a base for engaging community work carried out by the Club, Derbyshire Cricket Board and the Cricket Derbyshire Foundation, of which Reverend Michael Futers is Chairman of the Trustees. We’re delighted to be involved in such a powerful week of action.”
