Luis Reece has been picked up by Chittagong Vikings for the up-coming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 competition, which takes place in November.

The 27-year-old will represent the Vikings in the seven team BPL, which starts on 3 November, and will join a squad that includes Misbah-ul-Haq, Luke Ronchi and fellow all-rounder Liam Dawson.

The top order batsman was selected after an impressive NatWest T20 Blast campaign with Derbyshire. The left-hander hit 433 runs at a strike-rate of 138, with a joint-record four half-centuries and a career-best 97 not out.

Reece said: “It was a nice surprise to find out I’d be asked to play for the Chittagong Vikings. It’s something I’m very excited about and it’s a great opportunity for me to showcase my skills in the white ball format.

“It’s different conditions and I’ll be playing with some international superstars, so it can only help my development for when I return to Derbyshire.”

He added: “This summer was my first full campaign in Twenty20 cricket, so to put in some match-winning performances was fantastic. I’m hoping that next year I can build on this campaign and push for a first appearance for Derbyshire at Finals Day.

“I was learning on the job, I’d only played four Twenty20 matches before this season, but once I got a good performance in early it set me up for the rest of the tournament. I proved to not just other people, but myself, that I could do it on the big stage.”
