Supporters can now vote for the Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month for September.

Each month this season, supporters can cast their vote for their Player of the Month, with voting taking place on the Club’s official Twitter account; @DerbyshireCCC.

For the month of September, we have selected four nominees; Alex Hughes, Hardus Viljoen, Wayne Madsen and Imran Tahir.

The month included two Specsavers County Championship victories, first down at Hove against Sussex, before Derbyshire closed the season with a 157-run win over Gloucestershire at The Brightside Ground.

Player of the Month: September Nominees

Alex Hughes

2017 Player of the Year, Alex Hughes, enjoyed a successful September scoring 246 runs in three Specsavers County Championship fixtures including a career-best 142 in the win over Gloucestershire.

The all-rounder started the month with 44 in the draw against Glamorgan, he then went on to score 60 across two innings in Derbyshire’s second four-day win of the season against Sussex.

In the final game of the season, Derbyshire recorded back-to-back wins as Hughes top scored with a career-best 142 against Gloucestershire.

Hardus Viljoen

Fast bowler, Hardus Viljoen, bowled Derbyshire to victory in the Specsavers County Championship fixture at Hove after claiming 15 wickets in the match.

He claimed figures of 7-80 in the first innings and 8-90 in the second, becoming only the fourth player ever to take 15 wickets in a match for the Club, as Derbyshire recorded their second four-day win of the season.

Wayne Madsen

Wayne Madsen reached 10,000 career first-class runs in a successful September, most notably hitting 121 in the side’s victory in the final game of the season.

During the Gloucestershire fixture, the handy off-spinner also returned figures of 1-21 as Derbyshire bowled Gloucestershire out to claim their third win of the competition.

Earlier in the month, Madsen hit 25 and 31 in the win over Sussex and 20 in the rain-affected draw against Glamorgan.

Imran Tahir

Leg spinner Imran Tahir claimed a crucial five wickets in the win over Gloucestershire, including the last wicket of the game as Derbyshire bowled their way to victory on the final day.

In a rain-affected month, Tahir only appeared in one game for Derbyshire in September after being selected to play in a World XI Twenty20 side which faced Pakistan in Lahore.
