Derbyshire picked up the Best Domestic Campaign marketing award at the annual ECB Business of Cricket Awards (BOCAs).

The county won the award for the fresh energy they brought to promoting their NatWest T20 Blast fixtures, using data-driven insights to create personalised campaigns to targeted audiences.

It resulted in record crowds at games in Derbyshire this summer, with over 24,000 people watching T20 Blast games with the Club – an all-time record high.

Average attendances also grew to a record high to over 3,400 and the Club achieved sold out crowds for the games against Yorkshire at Chesterfield and the quarter-final against Hampshire.

Derbyshire’s groundsmen were also recognised, being shortlisted for the four-day pitches award, while there was further recognition for the county as Chris Airey, Media & Marketing Manager, won the Rising Star award.

Ryan Duckett, Commercial Director, said: “This is a great reward for our hard-working, committed and talented off-the-field team. It’s been an extremely busy summer with the hosting of the ICC Women’s World Cup, concerts and the domestic schedule, and we’ve achieved fantastic results.

“We’ve worked closely with our data analysis partners, Sportego, to deliver data-driven campaigns and we’re delighted with the results it’s achieved.

“We saw record crowds at our T20 Blast fixtures this summer, and records on-the-field with a first quarter-final since 2005, and we hope many supporters will join us again in 2018.”

Gordon Hollins, the ECB’s Chief Operating Officer, added: “Congratulations to all the BOCA winners and nominees.

“The panel who judge these awards were especially impressed by the marketing campaigns developed by Yorkshire for their international fixtures at Headingley, and by Derbyshire for their NatWest T20 Blast campaigns.

“Both campaigns were well planned, brilliantly executed and successful in delivering significant increases in attendances, as we enjoyed another game-wide record-breaking summer in both the county and international game.”
