The Derbyshire squad have trained outdoors for the first time in 2018, as preparations for the new season take a step up.
Focusing on red ball skills, batsmen and bowlers have taken part in competitive net sessions in the middle at The 3aaa County Ground, preparing in conditions the squad are likely to face in the opening months of the season.
Wicketkeeper-batsman, Daryn Smit said: “To be out here is the most realistic practice we can have. The conditions are juicy and seamer-friendly and that’s what we’re going to get in the first game here against Middlesex.
“We’ve prepared well and covered all bases in our preparations, so we are ready for that first game.”
Derbyshire begin the new Specsavers County Championship campaign at home versus Middlesex, starting on Friday 20 April at 11am.
