Ravi Rampaul hopes he can make an immediate impact for Derbyshire as the new season gets underway this Friday at The 3aaa County Ground.
The West Indies international arrives at the Club to begin a three-year spell as a non-overseas player. He will be available for all forms this season.
While, first and foremost, he hopes he can make a difference on the field as Derbyshire strive for silverware, he also wants to use his experience and knowledge to help the younger guys in the dressing room.
The 33-year-old is also looking forward to being part of a new-look and strengthened bowling attack this summer.
“There’s a lot grass and moisture in the wickets early season, so there should be a lot there for the bowlers, but you still got to use your skills and experience to get the most of the wickets,” Rampaul said.
“From what I have been hearing we have a lot of strength in our bowling attack.
“I have been here a couple of weeks and I’ve seen that Derbyshire has a lot of good young bowlers and that’s good for the future. And these younger guys can also learn from the experience guys this summer, which can only be good for the Club.
“Every team I play for I try and help them win championships and trophies,” he added. “We want to have a successful year and our aim is to get into Division One, like all teams in this league.
“When I joined the team all the guys welcomed me and they are all confident about the year ahead. We have been training together a lot and we’re ready for the season to start.
“I’m excited to get going and I hope we can start brightly this week against Middlesex.”
