Derbyshire’s lower-order rallied to take the game beyond Durham and secure a draw and 10 points at The 3aaa County Ground.
Mark Wood claimed a career-best 6-46 to reduce Derbyshire to 185-6 and with a lead less than 100, it looked like Durham could bowl themselves to victory on the final afternoon.
But Daryn Smit (34) then Tony Palladino (26 not out) and Ravi Rampaul (unbeaten on 18) showed resistance and took Derbyshire out of the reach of Durham as the highly-entertaining fixture ended in a draw.
