HIGHLIGHTS: Day One vs Warwickshire

Friday 4th May 2018
Written by Danny Painter

Wayne Madsen (144) hit his 26th first-class century for Derbyshire to rescue the visitors’ innings and leave the county in a good position after Day One.

Coming in at three, Madsen’s innings helped propel Derbyshire from 84-4 to 318 all-out. The top-order batsman built partnerships with Gary Wilson (34), Matt Critchley (30) and Duanne Olivier (40 not out) as Derbyshire fought back after losing the opening session.

Olivier removed Dominic Sibley early in the Warwickshire reply as the hosts closed on 32-1, trailing Derbyshire by 286 runs.
