Derbyshire were bowled out for 122 before a strong Warwickshire side closed on 314-6 on Day One of the Second XI Championship fixture at Hem Heath.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Derbyshire were dismissed for 122 in 40 overs, with an experienced attack of Keith Barker, Oliver Hannon-Dalby and Olly Stone taking eight wickets between them in the opening overs.

Dominic Sibley (158 not out), who featured in the Specsavers County Championship fixture at Edgbaston last week, opened the batting for the visitors and come the close had scored over half of Warwickshire’s runs in a fine display, which included 21 fours and five sixes.

Openers James Kettleborough and Anuj Dal were both out with the score on 11. Callum Brodrick made 24, but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals and soon Derbyshire were 44-6.

Scott Palumbo made 36 off 49 balls, but was out with the score on 101-7 and the tail struggled to offer resistance and Derbyshire were all out for 122.

Sibley led from the front with his commanding innings, but although other batsmen made starts, none were able to support the opener for long after Liam Banks (31) became the first wicket to fall.

Alfie Gleadall took two wickets, including a caught and bowled chance to dismiss Alex Thomson (11). There were also wickets for opening bowlers Will Davis (1-39) and James Taylor (1-61), but Warwickshire closed on 314-6, ina  good position with a lead of 192.
