Tony Palladino claimed 4-49 as Derbyshire closed Day One in a good position against Glamorgan at Swansea.

The experienced bowler ripped through the Glamorgan top-order with the help of Ravi Rampaul (2-41) and Duanne Olivier (1-70) to leave the hosts 53-5 at tea.

But Chris Cooke hit a near run-a-ball 69 and Andrew Salter closed on 26 not out to rally for the Welsh county and close on 175-7 at St Helen’s.
