Martin Guptill returns to The 3aaa County Ground with Worcestershire Rapids as they face Derbyshire in the Falcons’ second consecutive home match in the Vitality Blast.

The Falcons will be looking to get a first win in the competition when the Rapids arrive in Derby, but the visitors will provide a tough test after already recording two wins from their opening two matches.

New Zealand international Guptill has already impressed for the visitors this summer, showcasing his abilities when he hit a first-class century against Lancashire last month.

However, the 31-year old has become a white-ball prodigy in recent years, shown by his progression into the elite twenty-over competitions across the globe.

Guptill has featured for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League while he has also played in the Australian Big Bash League for Sydney Thunder.

Derbyshire supporters will already know of Guptill’s capabilities following his successful spells at the Club.

In his 14 T20 Blast matches for the Falcons, he recorded three fifties and scored over 450 runs while he also performed well in List A cricket for the county, averaging over 70 across eight matches.

The opening batsman has also been a lynchpin for his country in limited overs cricket. In T20 internationals, Guptill has notched two hundreds and14 half-centuries for New Zealand, hitting over 2000 runs at an impressive strike rate of 132.88.

Guptill has proven his white-ball expertise on the biggest stage for his country as well, when he hit an unbeaten 237 to post the highest ever ODI score in a World Cup, against the West Indies in 2015.
