Derbyshire has achieved record advance ticket sales for this summer’s Vitality Blast, with three home group games still to go.

Ticket sales are up 12% compared to the same point last year, with over 15,000 people already joining Derbyshire to watch Vitality Blast cricket in 2018.

The Club also achieved a second straight advance sell out for the local derby against Yorkshire Vikings at Chesterfield on Saturday, with 4,500 people at Queen’s Park watching Derbyshire’s dramatic final-over victory.

Since 2017, the Club has refocused resources on a new data-led marketing strategy, working with Data Analytic Partners, Sportego, which has allowed the county to develop effective targeted and personalised campaigns.

As a result, Derbyshire picked up the Best Domestic Campaign marketing award at the 2017 ECB Business of Cricket Awards and received a nomination at the prestigious BT Sport Industry Awards.

The record ticket sales also led to Derbyshire being highlighted on this weekend’s Wake up to Money on BBC Radio 5 Live, recognising the results the Club has achieved over the last 18 months.

Media & Marketing Manager, Chris Airey said: “We have once again received terrific support for our Vitality Blast games this summer. More people than ever before are buying tickets in advance and enjoying Twenty20 cricket with Derbyshire.

“This is the second season our marketing strategy has been data-led, working with data analytic specialists, Sportego, who have learnings from a range of professional sport organisations across the UK and Ireland.

“Our targeted campaigns have given us the ability to focus our resources to get the most of our owned channels and to ensure we achieve greater return on investment, and we’ve been delighted with the results.

“We are working hard to grow both our ticket and Membership revenues. The response we receive from Members and supporters goes a long way to ensuring that funds generated can be invested straight back into the Club and our long-term cricket development.”

Derbyshire has three home Vitality Blast group games remaining this summer, starting with the visit of Birmingham Bears on Friday 3 August (7pm start).

Supporters can save £4 by purchasing their matchday tickets in advance, while further savings are available for group bookings of 10 or more.
