Derbyshire fast bowler Wahab Riaz joined young cricketers at a recent training session at Derby Congregational Cricket Club.

Pakistan international Riaz visited the local children last week during his spell at the Club as Vitality Blast overseas and helped with their training session, before fielding questions from the inspired youngsters.

The visit was coordinated by Rahim Ali, Project Manager for the Cricket Derbyshire Foundation who deliver a variety of projects using the power of sport to make a positive difference in the community.

Ali said: “It was great to be able to introduce Wahab to these cricket-mad local youngsters. Having the chance to meet a Pakistan international cricketer playing in Derbyshire is an amazing opportunity for these young children and hopefully it will inspire them all.

“There is terrific interest and plenty of local talent within a number of local clubs in the City of Derby.

“Having the opportunity to meet Wahab will help us create stronger links with the community and provide us with an opportunity to engage and provide a more diverse and represented cricketing audience.”

There is still time to buy tickets to see the experienced left-arm quick in Vitality Blast matches at The 3aaa County Ground this Friday night. Buy tickets before midnight on Thursday and save.
