Tom Wood hit 82 and there were two other half-centuries for Derbyshire as the hosts posted 290 and had Worcestershire 40-1 at the end of Day One at Belper Meadows.
The Derbyshire openers put on 103 for the first wicket and Wood batted well for his 82 after coming in at four. But three wickets each for Ben Twohig and Dillon Pennington restricted the hosts to 290 in their first innings of the Second XI Championship match.
