Cricket Derbyshire India Club’s fifth-annual Diwali event on Saturday 27 October is a complete sell out.

The celebrations in the Greene King IPA Marquee will be the biggest yet, with 300 guests attending the showpiece anniversary event which features a live band, Bollywood dancers, fireworks and a traditional Indian meal.

The Diwalii event – sponsored by Greenbank, Office Owl, University of Derby, NK Motors, First Source, Slice of India, Derbyshire Carers Association and Lotus Indian Kitchen – will raise money for the Cricket Derbyshire Foundation (Registered Charity No. 1155801) and kicks off a busy season of festive community events at the Club.

Cricket Derbyshire India Club member, Baggy Shanker said: “We can’t believe it’s the fifth Diwali celebration. The event has grown year-on-year and it’s absolutely wonderful to see the whole community across Derby and Derbyshire come together to make the event such a success.”

Chief Executive, Simon Storey added: “The event this year is set to be the biggest yet and we’re grateful to all our sponsors for their support, helping us in our fund raising efforts for the Cricket Derbyshire Foundation.

“The Foundation deliver a number of key programmes across the county, including the new Active Kids programme for children in Derwent.

This programme provides kids with an opportunity to have a healthy meal and take part in fun sport-led activities in the school holidays and we plan to roll this out to other parts of the City.”
