Vote for your Player of the Month for September

Supporters can now vote for the Showcase Cinema de Lux Player of the Month for September.

Each month, supporters can cast their vote for their Player of the Month, with voting taking place on the Club’s official Twitter account; @DerbyshireCCC.

For the month of September, we have selected four nominees; Tony Palladino, Billy Godleman, Matt Critchley and Alex Hughes. The final month of the season included four Specsavers County Championship fixtures.

Player of the Month: September Nominees

Tony Palladino
The experienced seamer claimed 21 wickets in four Specsavers County Championship matches in September, ending the four-day campaign as the Club’s leading wicket-taker with 51 at an average of 19.72.

He bowled Derbyshire to victory against Glamorgan at The 3aaa County Ground, claiming a career-first ten wicket haul in the match to finish with figures of 10-81 as Derbyshire ran out 169-run winners.

Palladino claimed 11 further wickets in the remaining three matches in September as Derbyshire claimed two wins from the four matches.

Billy Godleman
The captain scored 241 runs across the four first-class matches in September, with a top-score of 105 not out in the second innings against Middlesex at Lord’s. Godleman carried his bat in a fine battling innings in an attempt to save the game.

He also scored 95 in the win against Glamorgan, the top score in the match which gave Derbyshire the platform for victory on Day Three.

The left-hander finished the Specsavers County Championship campaign with 658 runs, including two centuries.

Matt Critchley
The all-rounder starred with both bat and ball in September en route to winning the Most Improved Player of the Year Award at this season’s Player of the Year Gala Dinner.

He scored his third career first-class century in the first innings at Lord’s with a fine 105 as part of 185 runs in September.

Critchley also claimed nine wickets in September, with best figures of 4-60 against Middlesex.

Alex Hughes
With three half-centuries, Hughes was Derbyshire’s most consistent performer with the bat throughout September.

He ended the season with 55 not out, Derbyshire’s top-score in the second innings in the defeat to Gloucestershire, as part of 266 total runs in the month.

The all-rounder finished the season strongly to end with 737 runs at an average of 28.34 and a top-score of 103.
