In the latest edition of our #WeAreDerbyshire Stories feature, former Derbyshire bowler Paul Aldred reveals how he progressed to the Derbyshire first XI, including when he made his County Championship debut at Lord’s.
The Cricket Derbyshire Foundation’s Oral History of Cricket in Derbyshire project, which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, has recorded recollections from over 200 participants.
These include former and current players, and focused on audio-visual reminiscences about cricket at every level within the county, from grassroots to the Test arena.
It is this fabric of players, coaches, volunteers and supporters which all contribute greatly to make up cricket in Derbyshire.
In this twelfth edition, Aldred also reminisces on his time at the Club under Dean Jones’ captaincy.
