Derbyshire players and staff will tour to Desert Springs in March, as competitive preparations step up with less than two months until the start of the 2019 season.

Squad members and staff are to fly out to Spain on 12 March for an intensive five-day training camp, which will include two days of competitive inter-squad practice out in the middle.

The pre-season tour to Desert Springs Resort will allow the opportunity for players to undergo outdoor warm weather training on grass wickets, before they return to Derby on 16 March ahead of the first pre-season fixture against Leeds/Bradford MCCU, starting on Tuesday 26 March.

The red ball campaign gets underway at The Pattonair County Ground on Friday 5 April, with Durham the visitors for the first four-day fixture of the summer.

The Club will also host a player-run pre-season fundraising dinner on Thursday 7 March to support the funding of the tour, with football legend Dean Saunders to provide entertainment on the night.
