Derbyshire County Cricket Club has announced Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity as its Official Charity Partner ahead of the 2019 season.
The local charity, which aims to provide the highest quality care to patients across southern Derbyshire and south east Staffordshire, will have branding on the front of the club’s Specsavers County Championship shirt, while Derbyshire will facilitate donations to the charity through its online ticketing portal.
The partnership will also offer opportunities for Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity to raise awareness in the local community during matchdays at The Pattonair County Ground this summer.
Derbyshire’s re-designed white kit will be worn throughout the Specsavers County Championship campaign, which gets underway on Friday 5 April and runs until the final game of the season away to Middlesex at Lord’s, starting on Monday 23 September. The shirt will also be worn for the eagerly awaited Aston Lark Tourist Fixture against Australia in August.
Chief Executive, Ryan Duckett said: “We’re pleased to welcome Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity on board as our Official Charity Partner.
“It’s a brand new partnership and sees us take on an Official Charity Partner for the first time in a few years, but having met with the Charity, it’s clear to see the great work they do in Derby and the wider region.
“As part of the deal the Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity will have their logo on the front of the club’s Specsavers County Championship shirt in the first season under new Head of Cricket Dave Houghton.
“Dave has returned to the club alongside Assistant & Bowling Coach, Steve Kirby, and there’s a real sense of positivity among the squad with the season now only a couple of weeks away.”
Chris Maddox, Community & Corporate Partnerships Manager of Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity, said: “This is an exciting new partnership for Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity since our recent merger which brought together the two Trust charities.
“For us it’s about raising greater awareness of what we do in the local community and engaging with Derbyshire supporters and wider stakeholders.
“It’s not long now until cricket returns and we’ll be supporting the club in what’s a busy summer of cricket at The Pattonair County Ground and looking forward to a productive first year of our partnership.”
