In the latest edition of our #WeAreDerbyshire Stories feature, former Derbyshire all-rounder Matt Cassar discusses his career at the club, where he took 75 wickets and scored over 1,800 runs in first-class cricket for the county.
The Cricket Derbyshire Foundation’s Oral History of Cricket in Derbyshire project, which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, has recorded recollections from over 200 participants.
These include former and current players, and focused on audio-visual reminiscences about cricket at every level within the county, from grassroots to the Test arena.
It is this fabric of players, coaches, volunteers and supporters which all contribute greatly to make up cricket in Derbyshire.
In this sixteenth edition, Cassar also talks about the time after his professional retirement, including his league cricket career.
