Pre-Match Talk

Luis Reece insists the best is still to come for Derbyshire as the county look to make it two wins from three in the Royal London One-Day Cup against Leicestershire Foxes on Wednesday.

The all-rounder hit his first half-century of the campaign against Notts Outlaws on Sunday, and the 28-year-old is pleased with Derbyshire’s start to the season.

“It’s been a good start to the season, but it is only a start. Obviously we’re one win from two in the one-day competition so we’ll go to Leicester tomorrow looking to put in a big performance and make it two from three.

“We’ve played some good cricket but I don’t think we’ve fully hit our straps yet so that is a positive sign that we can pick up results when we’re not at our best yet.

“We’ve just got to keep building the momentum and trying to improve in every game and hopefully when it comes to the back end of the competition, we’ll be there or thereabouts.

“We’ve got to make sure we’re carry on with the confidence and the positives that we’ve gained from the first two games and put in a performance against a good Leicestershire side.

“They’ve got some good players and are playing some good cricket, but we’ve got to turn up and play our brand of cricket and if we do that, there’s no reason why we can’t come away with the win.”
