The Royal London One-Day Cup is back and Derbyshire are in action across the Easter weekend at The Pattonair County Ground.

Billy Godleman’s side will be looking to continue their positive start to the season, which sees them top of the Specsavers County Championship Division Two table after two matches.

Derbyshire beat Durham by 165 runs in the opening match of the summer, before Wayne Madsen hit an unbeaten 204 and his 15,000th run for the club against Gloucestershire to take Derbyshire to 28 points.

Attention now turns to 50-over cricket and the back-to-back visits of Northants Steelbacks on Good Friday and Notts Outlaws on Easter Sunday.

Derbyshire narrowly missed out on the knockout stages in last year’s competition and Head of Cricket, Dave Houghton, is targeting the format this year with the fixtures again coming in a block.

He said: “It’s always good to play these shorter formats in a block. It’s a bit earlier than normal, but good to play it all in one block.

“We’re well set up as a one-day side. We’ve got a lot of all-rounders, a lot of attacking batsman and variety in our bowling attack.

“The weather’s set fair and especially over an Easter weekend, we should get a really good crowd in.

“They should be high-scoring affairs and a nice weekend of cricket for supporters to watch.”
