Tony Palladino and Hamidullah Qadri took two wickets apiece in Derbyshire’s Second XI Championship match against Durham at The Pattonair County Ground.
Connor Marshall and Fynn Hudson Prentice also claimed a wicket each as Durham declared on 301-6, before Derbyshire closed Day Two with the score at 41-2.
Durham resumed on 14-1 overnight, and Derbyshire got off to a good start as Palladino took his second of the innings to reduce the visitors to 52-3.
However, experienced batsman Will Smith and Sol Bell came together for the visitors to steady the ship and put on an 82-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Smith fell for 64 but Bell (69) continued alongside wicket-keeper batsman Stuart Poynter (60) as both hit half-centuries to take the score to 241-6.
Brydon Carse (43 not out) and Josh Coughlin (34 not out) kept the scoreboard ticking for Durham before declaring on 301-6, in an attempt to force a result in the match.
In reply, Derbyshire were reduced to 32-2 as Tyler McGladdery (18) and Dinnie (13) both fell, as Tom Wood (7 not out) and Anuj Dal (2 not out) remained unbeaten overnight with the score 41-2.
