Sam Conners took 4-54 but Derbyshire lost by four wickets to Durham in the Second XI One-Day Trophy at Denstone College.
Tyler McGladdery recorded a century and Jessie Dinnie also added 51 as the pair combined for a 124-run opening stand, but it wasn’t enough as the Second XI’s six-game unbeaten run came to an end.
McGladdery and Dinnie got Derbyshire off to a strong start to take the score past 50, before the former also passed his half-century.
Fellow opener Dinnie (51) passed fifty before falling shortly after to bring an end the partnership, before McGladdery continued his fine form to notch three figures.
However, McGladdery was out for 102 as the hosts slipped to 149-4, with wickets continuing to fall at regular intervals.
Daryn Smit hit five boundaries to reach 34 not out, but Derbyshire were restricted to 218-9 from their 50 overs.
Derbyshire reduced the visitors to 59-5 in reply as Conners took four wickets in quick succession, whilst James Taylor also removed experienced batsman Will Smith (5).
However, Brydon Carse and James Weighell added 53 runs for the sixth wicket to take the score to 112-5, before Anuj Dal got the breakthrough to dismiss the latter for 39.
Carse (67 not out) continued alongside Josh Coughlin (52 not out) with both reaching their half-centuries as Durham chased the 219 target to win by four wickets.
